Looking back on the workshops “Hand Power, Horse Labor and Dance”

Over the last years, nature and farming have increasingly become a source of inspiration for Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker. The last two summers, she gathered a diverse group of dancers and non dancers for a workshop centered around physical labor in the fields, traditional agricultural tools and techniques, and dance.
During these workshops, the days start with movement sessions for dancers and non-dancers alike, guided by Cassiel Gaube and Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker. In the afternoon, the participants explore different agricultural techniques, such as cutting grass using various scythes (guided by Kevin Lambeets of ‘Zeis en Bijl’), and plowing the land with horses (under the guidance of Corentin Hannon and Eva Fillet of Cordeva). The participants also participate in cooking workshops with Petronella Van der Hallen and Valentina Nelissen.
How does one reconnect one's body to the environment? How may we slow down in a world replete with stimuli? These are but some of the questions explored during this workshop.
The participants reside at the School of Gaasbeek. The activities take place in the surrounding fields.
